Central Vacuole (plant)

The water boy holds the water and supplies the team  with water.
  • What does the organelle do?
    • The plant vacuole stores food, water, and wastes. It gives support to soft structures, such as leaves.
  • What is the structure of the organelle?

    • enclosed by a membrane called the tonoplast

Cytoskeleton

Basketball court: The basketball court is where the players run. The basketball court is also the overall shape of  where the players play and it also keeps them in place.

  • What does the organelle do?
    • Supports cell, provides shape and helps with the movement of materials in and out of the cell
  • What is the structure of the organelle?
    • Composed of many microtubules

Endoplasmic Reticulum (Rough)

Center (Position): The center in a basketball team is the support that keeps the team looking big. They are like the structures. They are responsible for carrying the team's defense (protein).

  • What does the organelle do?
Rough ER compartmentalizes in the cell, provides structural support, & targeted protein synthesis.

  • What is the structure of the organelle?
a network of membrane channels attached to the nuclear a network  of membrane channels attached to the nuclear membrane

Ribosome

Players: The players playing on the court represent the ribosome  because they are the ones responsible for producing the points.
  • What does the organelle do?
    • They are responsible for creating the proteins.
  • What is the structure of the organelle?
    • A c
omplex of RNA and protein. 2 subunits called 40-S and 60-S.

Mitochondria

Audience: The audience is what keeps the players going and want to play. They are the energy that supplies the players to keep working hard.
  • What does the organelle do?
    • Controls the cell's cellular respiration.
    • Storage of ATP
    • Cell's "powerplants"
  • What is the structure of the organelle?
    • Double-layered outer membrane with inner folds called cristae

Chloroplast

Hard work turns a bad performance into something positive. This helps lift the team into a stronger state.

  • What does the organelle do?
    • absorb sunlight and convert the suns energy to energy which can be used by the cell in a process called photosynthesis
  • What is the structure of the organelle?
    •  double membrane bound organelles

Golgi Apparatus

Point Guard: The point guard in a basketball team is responsible for distributing the basketball to other players.
  • What does the organelle do?
    • Carries the protein in and out of the cell.
  • What is the structure of the organelle?
    • The Golgi apparatus is made up of cisternae.
